Basic Information: Place of Birth: born in Gucheng County, Hubei Province, P. R. China; Nationality: Chinese; Religion: None; Degrees received: Bachelor of Arts in English, Master and Ph D degrees in the management science and engineering. Areas of interest: Management Science and Engineering and English-Chinese Translation. Having received his B.A. (Bachelor of Art) from Wuhan University in 1989, and an M.M. (Master of Management Science) from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1999, he entered Huazhong University of Science and Technology in September 2000 through unified entrance examinations, and graduated in June 2003 with a PhD degree in management science.

He has long been engaged in the management and study of WFP assisted projects, IFAD projects of the United Nations and other international cooperation poverty reduction projects. He has published (the first author) over 50 papers in the prestigious and core academic journals in China and in foreign countries (of which 4 papers in SCI refereed journals, 1 paper in EI refereed proceedings, 9 papers in ISTP proceedings, and 6 papers in prestigious Chinese journals such as Management World, China Soft Sciences, Chinese Rural Economy, Economic Management, International Trade), written 2 books in both Chinese and English, participated in compiling and translating 3 other books, and translated materials and documents of more than two million Chinese characters. He has hosted 1 China National Social Science Foundation Project, and hosted or participated in more than a dozen of the research projects and agri-related projects with international cooperation at the provincial or ministerial levels. In recent years, he has been the winner of Hubei Provincial Awards of Scientific and Technological Progress (a 2nd grade award and a 3rd grade award respectively), and the winner of the Ninth Social Science Award of Wuhan Municipality. In April, 2008, he had the honor to receive the "2008-2009 Fulbright Advanced Research Award" sponsored jointly by China Scholarship Council of the Ministry of Education and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) of the State Department of the United States.

Major Work Experience and Awards Received: have been engaged in project management and scientific translation work for more than a dozen of years. Have led or been involved in the management of many foreign funded agricultural projects in Hubei Province, especially the WFP, UNDP, FAO, IFAD and World Bank projects. Used to work as the deputy director of the Division of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economy and the deputy director of Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture for 12 years. For the past few years, have been teaching in the International Training Center for Foreign Agricultural Officials. Was transferred to CUG (Wuhan) as a teacher ever since September 2003, teaching Project Management (given in English), International Business (given in English), Management (given in English), Professional English of Management etc. President position: professor, member of the Party Committee of School of Economics and Management (SEM) of CUG, and Party Secretary of the Management Science and Engineering Department of SEM, also a consultant of the Foreign Capital Project Management Center, China State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, and a consultant of IFAD for project evaluation. Research directions for graduate students: (1) Project Management (at Management Science and Engineering); (2) International Business Management (at Enterprise Management) .

1986.11 was the first prize winner of the Hubei Provincial Prize Competition for the Translation of Foreign Languages.

1987.9 received the national award of the Model Agricultural Trainee Returned from Abroad issued by China National Society of Agronomy.

1995.5 was awarded the “Top Ten Model Youngsters” by Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture and model worker awarded jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Water Conservancy and Ministry of Forestry.

1998.10 was elected one of the standing directors of the Hubei Association for Translators.

1998.11 - 12 assigned by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as one of the members of the Chinese consultants' group for the evaluation of the flood disaster in China (in the field of agri-economy).

2000.3 was awarded model worker in the field of agricultural foreign affairs and foreign economy by Hubei Provincial People's Government.

2001-2003 has been teaching International Trade, An Introduction to the Agricultural Development in China, Management of Foreign Capital Projects and Monitoring and Evaluation of IFAD funded projects etc using the English language.

2006.6 was awarded the "Model Party Worker" by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).

2006.8 - 11 assigned by International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) as one of the 3 members of the consultant group for the evaluation of the impact on poverty reduction of IFAD assisted projects in rural China (in the field of project management and capacity building).

Major Education and Training:

1982.4 - 1983.4 one-year agricultural training in California, U.S.A.

1990.5 received Bachelor of Art degree of Wuhan University (the English major).

1984 - 2007 paid 17 visits to 30 foreign countries or regions such as the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, France, Denmark, Thailand, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Holland, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau etc for training, study tours or negotiation of cooperative projects.

1998.9 - 12 participated in the 17th Training Program for Division-level Leaders of Hubei Provincial Government in the College of Management, Central China (Huazhong) Normal University, and received a certificate of completion.

1999.6 received Master of Management Science of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) (management science and engineering major).

2000.9 entered Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) through unified examination for the study of PhD degree (management science and engineering major).
